Bravo buys Josh Blue’s DVD and will air that instead of a new stand-up special as his prize
One of Josh Blue’s prizes for winning Last Comic Standing 4 was his “own comedy special on Bravo,” as NBC’s web site says.
However, as Josh told reality blurred exclusively before a recent stand-up appearance at a college, he won’t be performing a new routine for Bravo’s cameras. Instead, Bravo has purchased his DVD, and will air footage from that as his special, perhaps in January.
“They actually bought my DVD, man,” he told me. And although that seems like that could be disappointing news, he’s quite happy with that decision. “It’s good for me, man. I don’t have to burn a bunch of material,” he said.
About the “exclusive talent contract with NBC” portion of his prize, Josh told me—while kicking a soccer ball around the green room at Stetson University—that he’s “talking to NBC about sitcom stuff,” both guest appearances and “my own sitcom.”
He also revealed that, during production on the series’ fourth season, the comics were only sequestered on the boat for eight days. The rest of the series was filmed and aired almost in real time, and he’d leave to “go do shows” around the country between episodes.
