The scandal-pocked Last Comic Standing 2 debuts tonight on NBC at 8 p.m. ET with a two-hour episode. Two judges, Brett Butler and Drew Carey, publicly expressed their displeasure when their choices were essentially overruled by network reps. Carey said the process “was crooked and dishonest.” Host Jay Mohr defends the network’s role to Zap2it.com, saying, “There’s not a comic alive that got ahead without somebody helping them, so this is just doing that at a network level. Unfortunately, a network has to be involved, because they have all the stations. … We’re lucky it’s two out of 10 and not 10 out of 10.”
