Despite the presence of comedians, USA TODAY says that Last Comic Standing 2’s “un-funny moments that are driving the show and drawing viewers.” The series’ executive producer, Peter Engel, confirms that, saying, “The best comedy has drama in it.” But the first contestant to be eliminated says producers exaggerate the amount of drama. Bonnie McFarlane says, “I think that the producers of the show are looking for a catfight from the very beginning. They made it really more dramatic than it was.” Ant, who was eliminated this week, says there’s more to come: “Stay tuned. Everything you have thought has happened hasn’t. There will be screams of joy from 50% of the country, and cries of tears from 50% of the country.”
