John Heffron was named the winner of Last Comic Standing 2 during last night’s finale. He’ll get a special on Comedy Central, plus a talent contract with NBC. All three members of USA TODAY’s panel correctly predicted John’s win. Possibly more interestingly, in the last few moments of the show, host Jay Mohr teased the recently-announced third season, which debuts at the end of August. He revealed how NBC managed to turn around a new season so fast: Last Comic Standing 3 will feature the comics from the first two seasons battling against one another. Each set of 10 comics will live together and then compete “house versus house” for “ultimate bragging rights.” Jay Mohr explained (while giving a nice swift kick to FOX’s crotch) that “the format is top secret, because we know FOX is watching and they’ll steal it.” The new season will be previewed on Monday, August 30, after NBC’s Olympic coverage, and then debut the next day, airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
