Laguna Beach star ends charity run Sun.
After the conclusion of Laguna Beach, you’d expect its rich, self-absorbed cast to use their fame for selfish reasons. But not Dieter Schmitz. He’s actually using his fame to—gasp!—help others. Of course, he’s the ugly one who doesn’t even get top billing or even a mention on the show’s web site. Oh, I kid Dieter. Anyway, he “created Running Home 4 Teens, a charity event designed to raise money for teenagers suffering from depression and chemical dependency,” according to MTV.com. At RunningHome4Teens.com, visitors can “sponsor him as he ran and biked the 73 miles from SDSU to his home in Laguna Beach.” Blink-182 and New Found Glory got involved and donated items to be auctioned off, and all money goes to Suicidal Awareness Voices of Education. His 73-mile biking and running journey ends on Sunday at 4:45 p.m., at Laguna Beach High School, 625 Park Avenue.
