As the AP so perfectly puts it, Joe Millionaire “has gone from one of TV’s most surprising successes to the new season’s most spectacular flameout.” FOX’s entertainment chair Sandy Grushow says, “Our instincts told us from the very beginning that ‘Joe Millionaire’ was a one-time stunt and I think we got greedy.” He adds, “We tried to sneak it by the American public a second time and we got called on it.” Yes, you did, but don’t fret. You’re FOX; we expect this from you. The show ended last night, so here’s a long, one sentence recap (here’s a longer one): David picked the previously rejected Linda, who rejected him after finding out about the lie, so David left Europe heartbroken, but then Paul showed up at a Texas ranch where David was with a letter from Linda, and Linda, who’d changed her mind, and she got $250K and he got the ranch. Phew.
