ArchivesThe format of CBS’ The Amazing Race, which was originally produced in the United States, has been sold overseas.
The show will be produced locally by “AXN in Central Europe and Asia, which will make one version for audiences in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and other nearby countries, and another for the Asia-Pacific region,” according to Reuters. AXN is Sony’s adventure channel.
A number of US reality shows, such as Survivor and Big Brother, are imports from other countries. Reuters notes that “[t]he number of formatted shows, or ones adapted for local audiences, on U.S. and European television has surged 35 percent over the past three years as producers increasingly seek ideas from other countries.”
