ArchivesCanada’s CBC plans NHL training camp competition series Making the Cut.
An upcoming 13-episode series Making the Cut “will follow thousands of Canadians as they try to earn one of a handful of invites to actual NHL training camps,” Jam Showbiz reports. Florida Panthers GM Mike Keenan and others will evaluate contestants at special training camps created for the show. However, Keenan says, “It’s going to be based on a pure, authentic, hockey training camp. If we were going to be involved, that’s what we wanted it to look like.” The public will vote to narrow the final 12 to six, and they’ll attend actual NHL training camps in the fall. The show debuts in September, although it’s been in the works for three years.
