While Popstars is doing well, reality TV shows such as The Amazing Race aren’t overly popular in India. One person interviewed by The Times of India suggests that’s because “foreign reality programmes show a lot of things you don’t do in India, like bungee-jumping or ski-diving, making it difficult for the Indian viewer to relate to.” The article also reveals that Survivor 2 was well-received but was pulled from the air there because animal killings violated the Prevention of Cruelty Towards Animals Act.
