Canadian Idol 4 debuted last night

Last night, CTV debuted the fourth season of Canadian Idol, apparently not realizing that it was a holiday on which we’re supposed to solemnly remember those who died for their country in wars, not be filled with mindless entertainment. Sometimes Canadians just act like they’re not Americans at all.

This season, the show will more closely mimic its US cousin, eliminating the wildcard round, replacing it with a semi-final round with “two groups of 11 competitors (called the Final 22), of which five each will advance to the Top 10,” according to a sourceless Wikipedia report.

Co-host Jon Dore, the Brian Dunkleman to Ben Mulroney’s Ryan Seacrest, did not return to host, leaving Mulroney to carry the show himself.
