The northern part of North America searches for its idol tonight when Canadian Idol debuts on CTV at 8 p.m. ET. The show’s host is Ben Mulroney, the son of Canada’s former prime minister, who says he “been a huge fan since the very first episode of American Idol.” Judged by a panel of four judges, the show’s schedule is as follows: the audition process will consume the first three episodes, the top 30 will be selected on June 30, elimination episodes will start July 7, and a winner will be crowned Sept. 16.
+ also: with Canadian Idol, Canadians are now longer prevented from participating in shows they watch.
