Australian Idol will include “a Big Brother-style, round-the-clock peek-a-boo of the final contestants, who will be locked up together in a Sydney house nearing the end of the show.” There aren’t many details, since the contestants have been barred from speaking to the media.
Also, one of the 40 finalists is a drag queen who is participating in the show in character. Shane Jenek auditioned first as himself but was rejected; while performing as Courtney Act, he “breezed through to the top forty contestants,” the show’s site reports.
