German’s Big Brother is about to undergo a major transformation, becoming an indefinitely running series that encompasses an entire studio-built town. Presently, RTL 2 is broadcasting a year-long version of the reality series, featuring two houses, and which began airing in March. according to Variety, “the present series will be continued on RTL 2 without interruption at the end of February and transformed into the open-end version in the new surroundings.” Of course, if Endemol defines “indefinite” like FOX did with Forever Eden, the series will be over roughly 45 seconds after it begins. Digital Spy reports that the new series “will be set in a purpose-built town and feature hundreds of regular people as the inhabitants. The town, currently being built outside Hamburg, will have its own forest, town square, shops and schools.” Producer Rainert Laux says the show’s creators “hope couples will get pregnant and family groups will interact with all the usual family frictions. They can do exams there if they want to go to school, learn languages or any other type of professional examination for a career and eventual employment.”
A 24/7 video stream and daily edited programs will air.
