The 2.4 million phone calls made to South Africa’s Big Brother to register votes against house guests are toll calls, not free calls, fans have recently discovered. While the number “appears to be a normal cellphone number, it is in fact classified as a general service call,” so callers are charged at different rates, Dispatch Online reports. A spokesperson says the calls were always toll calls, and “There was no intention to deceive the public.”
