Idol creator Simon Fuller wins PGA’s visionary award, working with Google to “change television”

Simon Fuller, the creator of the Idol franchise, “will receive the Producers Guild of America’s Visionary Award at the org’s 19th annual awards dinner Feb. 2,” Variety reports.

That award “goes to producers who demonstrate a ‘unique or uplifting quality,’ the org said,” according to Variety.

Fuller has also been “in secret talks with” Google for the past year “about a joint venture that could change the way TV is watched over the internet,” The Observer reports. The project “could revolutionise the way entertainment and music are distributed.”

“It’s a big idea on a global scale. It will change television in much the way iTunes changed the way music is disseminated,” a source told the paper.
