WGAw says networks and producers are trying to intimidate reality show writers

As part of its epic battle on behalf of reality show writers/editors/producers, the WGAw, has filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board, accusing ABC, CBS, The WB and FOX with trying to “interfere with employees’ right to organize.”

The WGAw “is concerned that the networks and producers, as defendants in a lawsuit brought by reality TV writers, are trying to abuse the legal process by issuing subpoenas to top WGAW officials, who are not parties to the lawsuit,” according to Backstage.

Also named were Rocket Science Laboratories, Next Entertainment, Telepictures Productions, Turner Broadcasting System, Syndicated Productions, and Dawn Syndicated Productions.

WGAw’s Jeff Hermanson said, “They’ve been using the discovery process to intrude into the relationship between the union and the plaintiffs. They can do whatever they want to do, but they can’t use the court to intimidate and coerce employees who are seeking to organize.”
