Extreme Makeover: Home Edition wins Oustanding Reality Show Emmy
At Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards, reality TV shows were mostly scorned. While we have to wait until the real Emmys this coming Sunday to see which show wins in the reality series — competition category, the winner of the Oustanding Reality show was announced Sunday, and it went to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The Amazing Race also pulled out an editing-related win.
However, in four other categories—Outstanding Cinematography For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera), Outstanding Sound Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera), Outstanding Direction For Nonfiction Programming, and Outstanding Sound Mixing For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera)—the nominated reality shows were all beaten by non-reality noninees.
Here are the two reality TV-related Creative Arts Emmy winners (underlined and listed first) and the other nominees in that category:
- Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera): The Amazing Race, The Apprentice, The Contender and two different episodes of Survivor.
- Outstanding Reality Program: Antiques Roadshow, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Penn & Teller: Bullshit!, Project Greenlight, and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
