Trading Spaces, The Osbournes, American High, Frontier House, Survivor, Project Greenlight all nominated for various Emmys.
The Emmy nominees were announced this morning, and six reality TV shows were among the nominees. In the Outstanding Non-Fiction Program (Reality) category, American High, Frontier House, The Osbournes, and Project Greenlight will compete against “Taxicab Confessions” and “Trauma: Life In The ER.” (Oddly, American High, which only had one season but aired on both FOX and PBS, won in the same category last year.) In the Outstanding Special Class Program category, both Trading Spaces and Survivor were nominated; they’ll compete against “The West Wing: Documentary Special,” “AFI’s 100 Years…100 Thrills: America’s Most Heart-Pounding Movies,” and the “I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Special.” Finally, Survivor was also nominated in the Outstanding Technical Direction category. The awards will be presented Sept. 14 (the creative arts awards, airing on E!) and Sept. 22 (the major categories, airing on NBC).
