Lou Diamond Phillips doesn’t know how much his charity will get for his I’m a Celebrity win

More than six weeks after Lou Diamond Phillips won I’m a Celebrity 2, his charity has not yet received the prize, nor does he know how much money his charity will receive.

“I don’t know; they haven’t written the check yet,” he told me at NBC’s gathering for TV critics late last week. “I just called them last week; [the charity’s representatives are] all going, ‘Is it millions of dollars?’ I said, ‘Doubtful,’” he said. But “anything that goes their way is going to be very very helpful because they give arts scholarships to underprivileged kids.”

NBC requested donations for a charity fund throughout the show’s month-long run, and Lou—he introduced himself with his first name—played for Art Has Heart. He said that the exposure was good for them, too. “It’s huge. They’re a regional charity; unlike Heidi and Spencer, the money I raised for my charity actually means something to them.” As to Heidi and Spencer, later this week I’ll have his thoughts on the Pratts and their antics, and his reality TV-related reason why he did the show.
