Stephen Baldwin, John Salley cast on I’m a Celebrity; MTV will re-air the show
Seven of the 10 cast members of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here 2 were just officially announced, but three more cast members and the host will be announced next week.
Stephen Baldwin, NBA star John Salley, and “wrestling champion and beauty queen” Torrie Wilson were the new cast members announced. Previously confirmed contestants were The Hills Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt; American Idol’s Sanjaya Malakar; and Janice Dickinson. (Rumored cast members Dog the Bounty Hunter and Geraldo were not mentioned and those rumors are probably false.)
Rod Blagojevich appeared at the press conference and said again that he may play a role: he said, “I’m not ruling out the possibility of being involved in some capacity.” And a producer said his role is “to be decided.” So, he showed up at the press conference even though he’s not officially signed on yet, but would ensure media coverage of the event. One of the show’s producers said they cast him because they’re creating an “entertainment show that’s light and fun, and Mr. Blagojevich is certainly entertaining.” Ha ha, corruption charges!
Meanwhile, MTV will partner with NBC on the show, and will re-air each week’s episodes in Sunday marathons. Broadcasting & Cable reports that it’s “a unique collaboration” that means “MTV [will] be actively involved in the creative of the show, as well as being involved in cross-promotions with NBC,” and “MTV is expected to run a mini-marathon of each week’s episodes on Sundays beginning June 7 after they have aired on NBC.”
