ArchivesThe History Channel’s most-watched show ever, Ice Road Truckers, will become adapted into a feature film in addition to airing a second season on TV.
Variety reports that “Twentieth Century Fox has closed a rights deal to use the premise … as the basis for a tentpole action feature.” (A “tentpole” movie is one that is so big that it subsidies movies that aren’t as popular.) No writer, director, or producer has been announced. “Fox will hire a writer shortly and assign a producer to shepherd it,” according to Variety.
Meanwhile, the TV show has been renewed, and “[s]hooting on the second season is under way,” Variety says.
