Ice Road Truckers finale sets History Channel record
At the end of Ice Road Truckers, Hugh made $58,400 by carrying 37 loads, making him the most-successful trucker of the ones we watched. And the show was the most-successful series ever for the History Channel, ending its season by breaking records again.
After debuting with 3.4 million viewers in June, the show concluded with 4.8 million viewers (although there will be a reunion and special in Sept.) That’s the History Channel’s most-watched show ever, and made it “Sunday’s No. 1 cable program in 18-49, 25-54 and most key male demos,” Variety reports.
Still, that’s just over a third of the audience the Disney Channel drew Friday night for High School Musical 2, 17.24 million viewers, the highest-rated cable program ever. Of course, Ice Road Truckers also doesn’t have Zac Effron or Vanessa Hudgens driving a truck. Maybe for season two.
