ArchivesWhat Mark Burnett did for boxing on The Contender, he now will do for martial arts. He’s working “with mixed martial arts company ProElite Inc. to develop a primetime reality series involving the combat sport,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The paper notes that “there is no concept for the primetime series yet,” and as such there’s no network attached. However, Burnett “is said to be fascinated with martial arts and the martial arts culture.”
An agreement “between ProElite and Mark Burnett Prods. calls for Burnett’s company to produce the potential series, whose contestants would be signed by ProElite,” the Hollywood Reporter says. For his part, “Burnett gets the right to buy up to 17 million shares of ProElite at $3 a share.”
