Report says Kanye West will star in an HBO reality series, but he says it’s a fictional comedy
Kanye West will star in an HBO reality series that’s being produced by Larry Charles, the director of the Borat movie and executive producer of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The show will “focus on a day in what is described as the crazy, hectic life of the Grammy-winning artist,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Also producing “will be record producer/label executive Rick Rubin; G Roberson, who is West’s manager; and West.” This reality show project is in addition to a “feature film inspired by his music” that’s being produced by New Line Cinema and Anonymous Content.
Update: Kanye told MTV News that the series he’s working on for HBO is not a reality series. “I wouldn’t do something as cliche as a reality show. At least give me the credit for being more creative than that … For the last couple of years, Larry, Rick and I have been developing this pilot. It’s a situational half-hour comedy. It’s fictional, and loosely based on my life,” he said.
