MTV’s Two-a-Days moves to ESPN and becomes Varsity Inc.

MTV’s Two-a-Days, a reality series that aired for two seasons and followed football players at Hoover High School, has been picked up by ESPN, the New York Post reports. It will also move locations, to West Monroe, La., following the Rebels at West Monroe High School, a school considered for the MTV series two years ago. And it will also shift its focus entirely to football, rather than to the players’ lives.

“I just didn’t want anybody to get involved in the personal lives of the kids,” the team’s coach, Don Shows, said. “I think a lot of people would be interested more in the football side. What goes on in practice, in meetings, how it fits into the community I’d be interested in watching something like that, to see how a team gets to where they are.”

The paper says that production “at West Monroe started Aug. 1, with the premiere of a seven-episode run expected in late November.” At Hoover High, “MTV had an option to do a third season with the Bucs, but there are no cameras currently at the school and no expectations they’ll return.”
