ArchivesCBS is teaming up once again with Mark Burnett for a competition-based reality series, but this one will have a pirate theme. Arrgh.
The as-yet-untitled series will air next summer, and is described by Variety as “a pirate-themed reality adventure” that “will take place on both land and at sea, suggesting the presence of ships and islands as central characters in the unscripted drama.” In addition, the show will “will incorporate traditional reality elements such as competitions and elimination ceremonies.”
While this sounds a lot like Survivor, and that makes sense since nearly all of Mark Burnett’s reality series have followed that show’s formula, Variety insists that this is “will not simply be ‘Survivor’ at sea, and will vary from Burnett’s original” series.
