NBC plans online-only talent search StarTomorrow

Remember the days when FOX ripped off other networks? Now the other networks are catching on. For the second time in two days, NBC has announced yet another talent search series. StarTomorrow, however, will not air on TV; instead, it’ll be an online-only series. It’s the first online-only series to be offered by a broadcast network.

The show will offer “a record deal with former Sony Music Entertainment chairman Tommy Mottola” to the winner, who will be selected by viewers, MediaWeek reports. There will be “a nationwide search for musical talent (or possibly Idol leftovers) prior to the show’s launch, ultimately to nail down a list of 100 performers or groups to appear on the 16-week series.” Each week, 20 performers’ will up for voting. NBC is now casting.

The show will be executive produced by Dave Broome, JD Roth, and Todd Nelson, who also exec produce The Biggest Loser.
