NBC is importing a series from the UK that gives washed-up singers a second chance. Three episodes of Hit Me Baby One More Time, which should have been the title of Britney’s UPN series, will begin airing June 2. According to Variety, “[e]ach self-contained hourlong episode of the skeinskein takes five former chart-topping artists and gives them a chance to get back into the spotlight by performing a cover version of a current pop hit, as well as one of their past successes.” Then, they compete in front of a live studio audience. Belinda Carlisle, Gloria Gaynor, and Haddaway have been among those to participate in the UK version.
