MTV show will let college journalists compete for a writing job with Rolling Stone
MTV is picking up another magazine-themed reality show that will give its winner a writing job with Rolling Stone magazine.
According to The New York Times, “Jann Wenner, publisher of Rolling Stone, has signed a deal with MTV for a reality show in which the magazine gives internships to several journalism students, who then compete to become a Rolling Stone contract writer.” While it was previously discussed as being a sort of Apprentice with Rolling Stone’s publisher, Wenner won’t be as omnipresent as Trump. “I’ve been optioned to appear if I want. But I’m not the star. They don’t want me to be the star. It’s not a Donald Trump-like thing. If I’m in it, I’m peripheral. I might be the person who reads a manuscript,” he said.
Casting reportedly begins next month, but MTV does not yet have information on their site. A Wenner Media exec tells the paper that they want “college students who are ‘journalists, telegenic, have an interesting personality and are interested in music journalism.’”
