Archivestrying to define itself as a reality comedy network, TBS orders new show concepts.
As part of TBS’ “plans to boost its new image as a comedy-centered network with quirky reality shows, not original sitcoms,” the network has ordered a number of new reality show concepts, the AP reports. The shows will be pitched and produced by two companies, Nash Entertainment and Coquette Productions. Nash created TBS’ first reality series, Outback Jack, while the latter is the production company owned and run by Courteney Cox and David Arquette. A TBS VP tells the AP, “We are trying to pioneer a genre we call comedic reality. It takes two great aspects of comedy—unpredictability and relatability—and mixes it with the hottest genre on TV.”
