Maloofs creating Apprentice-like show for Spike; Hillbillies show still in development.
CBS’ plans for The Real Beverly Hillbillies were criticized heavily before the show even went into production, and it seemed as though CBS was backing away from the series. But now CBS chief Les Moonves says it’s still in the works “We’ve never officially gone out of development with that show,” he said, according to the New York Daily News. On Tuesday, UPN—which is owned by CBS—will screen Amish in the City for critics. That show was filmed secretively; the same may happen for the hillbillies. … Yet another mogul is getting a reality TV show. Spike TV is planning a show with George Maloof and his family. The Sacramento Bee describes says Entrepreneurs will involve teams who “work in different Maloof enterprises—like the Kings or Monarchs operations or the Palms Casino in Las Vegas—to show off their management mettle. They’ll also be asked to promote their ideas in ‘elevator pitches,’ those short, right-to-the-point presentations entrepreneurs often have to make to VCs.” There’s no premiere date set yet.
