Amish in the City wraps taping; Hayden Christensen, Jack Black producing shows.
UPN’s quasi-controversial series Amish in the City has completed taping, and will air in just a few weeks. The series, which “puts five Amish youth and six streetwise roommates into an ultramodern Hollywood Hills home and captures what happens when the two cultures come together,” will debut July 28 at 8 p.m. ET with two episodes. It will then screen regularly at 9 on Wednesdays. Show producers preview the series for Variety, and say that “The Amish people were approached and treated respectfully, and the importance of their journey was honored. If you talk to any of the Amish participants, you won’t find a single one who regretted the experience.”
+ other future shows: RJ Cutler and Hayden Christensen are producing ‘Masterpiece,’ [which] is going to chronicle a young artist’s rise to fame, and Cutler is producing a series about race relations for FX.
+ and: Jack Black is producing a series for FX that lets people produce five-minute shows.
