George Foreman shopping boxing series.
Having already conquered the grilling machine market, George Forman now wants a piece of reality TV action, especially considering NBC’s recent announcement that they’ll air Mark Burnett’s The Contender. Foreman and HBO boxing commentator Jim Lampley’s Crystal Spring Productions are shopping a series that “involves a group of heavyweights living and training together under the coaching of Mr. Foreman.” Lampley tries to one-up NBC by saying they “have been developing this project over the past several months, but with George now onboard, we will be producing what we are sure will be the definitive insider’s look at the reality of boxing.” Elsewhere, more sports-related reality TV is popping up. ESPN began airing its competition for a new SportsNight anchor on Sunday night; Dream Job airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET. And crews recently followed the University of Wisconsin basketball team for a three-part college basketball version of The Season.
