WB will air Idol spoof Superstar USA, which will advance awful singers.
The WB will reverse the Idol formula with its upcoming Superstar USA, letting awful singers advance while ridiculing and booting those with talent. The show is produced by reality TV svengali Mike Fleiss, who tells Variety, “These people believe they’re the next pop superstar, even though they’re horrible singers. It’s not funny seeing bad singers doing karaoke. This is about people who are clearly delusional and watching them butcher song after song.” Judged by Tone-Loc, Vitamin C, and Chris Briggs, the show debuts May 17 at 9 p.m., airing on Mondays and Tuesdays. Brian McFayden will host.
