A producer is looking for a gay country singers who will compete as part of a reality TV show. Auditions began yesterday in New York City for the as-yet-unnamed show. It’s from “Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Larry Dvoskin … [who] hopes to get at the struggles and lives of the contestants in their quest to become America’s first openly gay country star,” Rolling Stone reports. He says he wants “[s]omebody who, if people say, ‘Sit down, faggot,’ can address that level of hostility and not shrink under that white-hot spotlight.” Six finalists have already been selected.
