Archivesgroup protests “offensive” Real Beverly Hillbillies with advertisements.
CBS is still developing The Real Beverly Hillbillies, a show that will take a real rural family and transplant them to Beverly Hills, but a group wants them to stop. On Tuesday the group ran this ad in major newspapers, saying that “mocking a group of rural Americans who have endured, despite hardship and inequity, is more than just offensive.” They want CBS to stop production of the show. CBS’ spokesperson says, “We would ask viewers to withhold judgment until they have seen the show. It might shed some light on the absurdities of urban life.”
