Showtime plans rap battle show.
In October, Showtime will air “a six-part series designed to discover the hottest new prospect in hip-hop,” USA TODAY reports. Interscope Presents The Next, as it is officially called, will include one-on-one rap battles, with the audience (not judges or viewers) selecting a winner at the end of every episode. The show is executive produced by Eminem’s manager, who also is a VP of Shady Records. Paul Rosenberg says, “This can be more of an R-rated show. On a PG-style show, these guys would be disqualified for cussing. A new artist isn’t used to censoring himself. When you’re thinking off the top of your head, some naughty words might slip out.”
