ESPN will select SportsCenter anchor via reality TV competition.
The next anchor on ESPN’s SportsCenter may be selected via a competition-oriented show the network is planning. Dream Job “will invite aspiring sportscasters to submit audition tapes for consideration in an American Idol-style competition,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will follow contestants as they compete in categories such as “play-by-play, sideline reporting, one-on-one interviews and SportsCenter highlight voice-overs. Viewers and a panel of judges are likely to decide the winners.” Applications are not yet being accepted and there’s no word on when the series, which is still in development, will debut.
