NASCAR, gay country singers, Mayflower all may get reality TV shows.
New concepts for reality TV shows keep coming. FX and NASCAR may team up to produce a show “involving the stock car racing circuit” and “would definitely be unscripted,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. No other details have been planned; they’re expected to make a deal within the next couple months. … Songwriter Larry Dvoskin is currently recruiting people to find “the first openly gay male country singer” for a show he “hopes to produce in summer 2003”. He doesn’t yet have a network but says “[t]he response has been tremendous” from possible contestants. … In the UK, ITN is planning a Big Brother-style show aboard a replica of the Mayflower originally intended to be used as a tourist attraction. After the ship is built within the next two years, it may “[retrace] the voyage of the Pilgrim Fathers which set off from the Mayflower Steps nearly 400 years ago.”
