ArchivesA&E has pulled all scheduled broadcasts of Dog the Bounty Hunter, its highest-rated show, off the air, following the release of Dog’s racist tirade. However, the show has not yet been cancelled.
The reason it has been pulled, Variety reports, is that “advertisers began backing out of the series, leading A&E to replace Saturday’s special 7-to-11-p.m. ‘Dog’ marathon on Saturday with ‘Dallas Swat’ and ‘The First 48.’ For the time being, reruns of ‘CSI Miami’ will go into the regular ‘Dog’ time period of Tuesday from 8 to 10 p.m.”
In a statement, the network said, “In evaluating the circumstances of the last few days, A&E has decided to take ‘Dog The Bounty Hunter’ off the network’s schedule for the foreseeable future. We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun.”
The AP reports that “A&E officials said the series, one of the network’s top-rated programs, has not been canceled.”
