Phil Harris will be part of Deadliest Catch’s sixth season, special tribute being planned

The Discovery Channel and Deadliest Catch executive producer Thom Beers are working on producing a special tribute to Phil Harris, who died Tuesday at age 53 but will be featured in season six of the show, which finished filming in January.

“He’ll be a big part of the season and the series. But this is a huge loss to the series. The fate and the future of the Cornelia Marie and crew (are) up in the air. I’m flying up to meet with his sons and figure out what to do going forward,” Beers told Variety.

As to the tribute, the paper says “No deal is firm yet … But a special is likely, [Beers] added and Discovery confirmed.”
