Dancing with the Stars 7

Dancing with the Stars beats the World Series

Dancing with the Stars 7 was watched by more people than the World Series on Monday night, although the two only overlapped for a half-hour. In other words, a quasi-athletic competition featuring C-list celebrities defeated a competition between two actual, although perhaps B-list, athletic teams.

At 8 p.m., 18.02 million people watched Dancing—and possibly Cloris Leachman’s last stand—compared to 8.47 million who watched the World Series pre-game, according to ratings data compiled by TV By the Numbers.

Once the game started at 9, it drew 11.57 million viewers during the hour, compared to the 20.34 million that Dancing drew from 9 to 9:30. The game was eventually suspended at 10:47 p.m.
