ArchivesMira Sorvino has excluded herself from Dancing with the Stars 6 because her managers were concerned about people who make fun of actors on the show, she says.
Asked if she’d do the show, she told the Winnipeg Sun, “Yes, I would, but my management would not let me do it. I did Jimmy Kimmel’s show when I was promoting Reservation Road and (Dallas Mavericks owner and former DWTS contestant) Mark Cuban came on. I was talking about how I was a fan of the show and Jimmy Kimmel was like, ‘Oh, you mean, Dancing With The D-List celebrities?’”
“Unfortunately, that’s the way people look at the actors who do it. You can be the biggest sports figure in the world or the best boxer and do it, and no harm, no foul. But something about doing it as an actor right now sends out a message that there are problems in your career. As soon as that goes away, I’m there,” she said.
Apparently, her management isn’t concerned about the ridicule she’ll now receive from people, like me, who will point out that she won an Oscar 13 years ago and could, perhaps, use some publicity besides the negative attention that comes with telling a reporter how much better you are than the people who lower themselves to appear on the country’s second-most popular show.
