Wayne Newton eliminated from Dancing with the Stars; Samantha Harris returns next week
After winning two seasons in a row, Cheryl Burke has now lost Dancing with the Stars two seasons in a row, and she won’t win yet another crappy trophy. Cheryl and her partner Wayne Newton were eliminated last night, and the only real surprise there is that he lasted this long.
Perhaps a bigger surprise was that Floyd Mayweather and Karina Smirnoff ended up in the bottom two with Wayne and Cheryl, rather than, say, Mark Cuban, who had a lower score than Floyd. The saddest news, though, was that Samantha Harris will return to the show next week. While she’ll undoubtedly provide a lot of entertainment, so did substitute co-host Drew Lachey. However, he’ll return to ABC as host of the spin-off Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann.
After being eliminated, Wayne Newton told OK! Magazine, “It’s a bittersweet thing. I’m going to miss some incredibly talented and nice people. On the other hand, I’m looking forward to getting a good night’s sleep and a day off, spending some time with my wife and children. I’ve learned it’s not about winning or losing, it’s enjoying the trip along the way.” He also went into self-promotion mode, talking about his upcoming gigs and new record.
