ArchivesMario Lopez may have been wandering the streets of Los Angeles on the night that he lost Dancing with the Stars 3 because he thought he was “the better dancer,” but he has a few reasons to be happy now.
First, he’s been signed to host the Miss America pageant, which airs later this month on CMT. A network exec told Entertainment Tonight that he “is a fantastic choice to host the ‘2007 Miss America Pageant.’ With his soaring popularity, his former hosting experience and his undeniable charm, he will certainly excel as this year’s host.”
That’s apparently what the producers of Extra thought, too. They’ve signed him “as cohost of its weekend edition and as a correspondent with the daily program,” according to Variety. In addition, he also has “a talent-holding deal with the CW” network.
He’ll be “welcomed to the ‘Extra’ family” tonight, according to the show’s web site, but “will make his official debut as part of ‘Extra’s’ Golden Globes red carpet coverage on Tuesday, January 16,” the site says. Oddly, the Golden Globes air Monday night, so either he’ll just be covering the red carpet after the fact, or this is the way Extra hazes its new employees.
