Dancing 2 finale crushes the Olympics closing ceremonies, beats 20 other reality finales
Despite the fact that it was obvious that Drew would win Dancing with the Stars 2 as soon as Stacy was revealed to have come in third place, audiences stuck around, and the show easily beat the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.
An average of 27.1 million viewers watched the two-hour finale, and that was “larger than that of any other reality show finale (excepting Fox’s ‘American Idol’) in nearly two years,” according to Variety.
Among those 18 to 49, the show saw “a 28% rise from last summer’s first-season finale,” and Variety says it also pulled larger 18 to 49 audiences than — get this — “the last three finales of both CBS’ Survivor and NBC’s The Apprentice as well as the last six editions of ABC’s The Bachelor and all eight finales to date of CBS’ Amazing Race.”
Basically, besides Idol, it’s the new undisputed reality TV champion.
