Cheryl Burke reveals molestation, abuse: “They’re not secrets. There’s no shame.”

Dancing with the Stars pro Cheryl Burke has published a new memoir in which she discusses being molested as a child and physically abused as an adult by two boyfriends.

Cheryl’s book, Dancing Lessons: How I Found Passion and Potential on the Dance Floor and in Life, will be released Feb. 8, and since it was ghostwritten by People magazine writer Monica Rizzo, the magazine has an interview with Cheryl, and reports that when she was a kid, “Burke was repeatedly molested by a friend of her family’s — and testified against him in court, helping send him to prison for nearly two decades,” while as an adult, she suffered “physical abuse by two former boyfriends.”

“They’re not secrets. There’s no shame,” Cheryl said, adding that she’s telling her story because, “If I can help just one person, for me that’s all that matters.”
