Christine O’Donnell invited to Dancing with the Stars; other celebs deny casting reports

Former Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell said that she was offered Dancing with the Stars 12 on Monday, just one week before the cast will be officially announced as part of The Bachelor.

This season, most of the rumors about potential casting have been shot down by the people who are the subject of them: Brett Favre’s daugther said he is not doing the show; Jennifer Beals, who told People she was offered the show but said no; and wrestler Chris Jericho sidestepped the question when asked if rumors were correct. A report that Wendy Williams’ show would go on hiatus so she could dance was sort of quashed when the show’s rep told USA TODAY it was not going on hiatus.

Other names mentioned in unsubstantiated reports include Jodie Sweetin and Lindsay Lohan (please!). An early report said Portia de Rossi would dance as part of the show’s first same-sex couple.

O’Donnell, the Tea Party candidate who memorably ran an ad saying she was “not a witch” after footage of her on Politically Incorrect surfaced when she said she’d tried witchcraft, wrote on Facebook, “I just got the Official ‘Ask’ from Dancing With The Stars !! Although I am utterly flattered, my initial thought was to decline, as 2 year old nephew has more rhythm than me, and my two left feet!!
However Eileen thinks i should do it. What do you think?”
