Burnett: “people thought they could throw anything on the air and get ratings.”
Mark Burnett talks about reality TV—and his upcoming series Combat Missions, which will air on USA Network starting Jan. 16. The show features competitions and challenges attempted by military and law enforcement personnel, and Burnett says “this war is perfect timing” for the show. He also talks about the failure of other reality TV shows: “Anything which is entertaining and well-produced can entertain an audience. … Because of Survivor’s success, people thought they could throw anything on the air and get ratings. They were wrong,” he says.
