Duel II cast trashed $4 million house and owner “had to fight” to get compensated

A $4 million Queenstown, New Zealand, home used by MTV’s The Duel II, which aired last spring and is now airing in that country, was trashed by the cast. The homeowner told the New Zealand Herald, “It was pretty bad … My house now has been completely repainted [and] all the floors have been done. … The problem I had was they would not accept responsibility for some of the damage they did and I had to fight to get my money out of them.”

The paper details the “tens of thousands of dollars” worth of damage, from wine stains on marble floors to damage from a makeshift indoor waterslide. In a statement to the paper, production company Bunim-Murray laughably called that “wear and tear.”

The owner got his money, signed a confidentiality agreement, and is now selling the house.
